A Fundraiser for Alberta Lung

The first annual Dunne Golf Classic took place in 2021. Jack Dunne was a quiet professional, who never wanted to be in the limelight of life. He achieved success through tenacity, persistence and wisdom gained through life experiences. Jack was a dear husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend and community member. Jack also loved golf.

For four years, Jack fought cancer and COPD. Towards the end, COPD gripped his lungs. In 2021, Jack retired his golf clubs. He continued his love for golf when he and Jaryll, his loving wife, started the Dunne Golf Classic. This tournament brought together family and close friends to celebrate life with Jack.

Supporting Breathing Space

Jack went through many challenges with COPD, near his end. As a result, Jack’s family felt a strong desire to support Alberta Lung with the Dunne Golf Classic 2024. In particular, our golf tournament will raise funds for Alberta Lung’s Breathing Space. This facility will be sanctuary for lung transplant patients and their families.

Jack knew when to contribute, provide support and encouragement to others. He inspired many to aspire for more than just the norm. He was a motivator, mentor and educator to all who had dreams and goals for their future. Those who had a chance to spend time with him in conversation were strongly imprinted by his insight.

Breathing Space will provide support, encouragement and healing for many lung patients. This planned home away from home reflects Jack’s values and life. Supporting this initiative feels like a natural fit for the Dunne family.

1 in 5 Albertans feel the affects of chronic lung conditions. Lung diseases like asthma, lung cancer and COPD are not kind. A true need exists for critical research to find a cure or new treatments.

Help us to make Breathing Space a reality for lung patients in Alberta. Please support this vital initiative for a Lung Health and Recovery House. This facility will be the first of its kind in Canada.
